off to Galveston...

My friend Shelley and I are about to leave for Galveston, TX in about an hour. It's time for Lonestar Triathlon....Half Ironman. 70.3 miles tomorrow! I take off at 800 AM. Good thoughts friends, as I wait for damage on my stinkin' car.

Oh well.

Once again, any leads on a hot man that has $$$. I'm just saying.

My car, a dog and Geico...

Yes, I had a bit of an accident last night. Not with a vehicle. I avoided hitting a dog as it ran across the street and then BAM! hopped a curb and my front left tire blew. And as we went to change the tire, we realized....it was more than the tire that was hurt.

Good times.

What really sucks....I called Geico to see what my insurance company would say.."Um, maam, if you would have hit the dog it would have been covered under comprehensive but because you hit the curb, you are not covered."

SERIOUSLY????? Had I HIT and killed the dog and had that engraved in my memory FOREVER, my car would be covered. It is now in the shop, and I am sure it is going to be an outrageous amount. Can I have ONE week without something financially hitting me?

This is not cool. I want to switch from Geico just for this reason.

They apparently want dogs to be hit by cars.

Happy One Year!!

I love my family and I don't get to see them very much. My nephew, Solomon, just turned one. Like any other child he was super excited about the ice cream!!

New Digs....

So I moved into this sweet one bedroom loft apartment right in downtown Austin. I love it. It still needs some work, but it's MINE!!!! No roomies, no major distractions. Walking distance from good bars and good music. And one mile from Town Lake Trail...I can run from my house. It is pretty awesome...you should come over to visit. Bring wine.

Church Signs...Really?

Being out on the bike you experience many fun and funny things. One of my new favorites is random really bad church signs. Here are the 2 best yet.

I promise there will be more to come. Texas is a big state and I have a lot of biking to do!!

And to think this church spent good money on this sign.

My trip to Salt Lake in pictures!

it's a small world after all. Scott Porter (Disney compadre and fellow Austinite. You also might recognize him from Friday Night Lights and a few movies coming out) He was on my first plane to Denver. We chatted and got caught up on life!! Fun times!

rawbean coffee, nice people, good music being played, free wi-fi...oh, and coffee!!!

does this need a caption?

took off on a run from the capitol building...pretty skies!!

this is what I woke up to my first morning...love Park City, Utah. Scary to drive in this snow!!

Puh-ho-nix

That is the airport I am sitting in. Thank God for free wireless. I think it should be mandatory that airports offer Free Wireless. It is such a disappointment when you get off a plane and go to check your e-mail while waiting for the connecting flight, you have paid $400 for the airline ticket, $3 for a coffee and $4 for a bagel only to find out it will cost you $9.95 for a one day pass on the internet. REALLY??? It has been hit or miss with the airports lately, but luckily Phoenix came through for me.

Nothing new to talk about. It is my friend Kerri's 30th today, so if you check this.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Hopefully I will be back in time to enjoy a margarita with you! Ole'!!

Much to catch up on with the old job situation. I am gonna take a bike ride by myself tomorrow to think about it all. I have a few offers on the table.

Salt Lake...update

What a great trip this has been. I totally think in some other life I lived in the West. There is something about the mountains and the connection I feel with just the air out here.

I am super lucky, cause I am staying with my good friend Ramsi for the couple of days I am here. If you don't know her, you should meet her. I planted myself in a coffee shop for the majority of yesterday studying up for the interview. Met Ramsi around 10:00 at night after she did a show and we drove to Park City to stay with a few of her friends. Little did I know that would be Kevin Curtis, receiver of the Philadephia Eagles. SUPER HUGE HOME in Park City....Ramsi & I got settled in, I met Kevin (amazingly nice guy and ridiculously hot) and I had to get to bed. Early morning ahead of me, we figured we would do dinner and catch up tonight (Thursday).

I woke up to a huge load of snow on the driveway, a very panicked Colleen trying to remember how to drive in the snow and gripping the steering wheel as if death were right around the corner. good times. Ask Ramsi about it, she was in my car. I had a long day of interviews and "selling myself" to the folks here at Backroads. It is a super cool company but I have a lot I need to figure out in the next week.

It has been my dream to travel the world on my bike. Is this the push I need? here is where the Colleen that over-analyzes EVERY move in her life comes in.

I am supposed to hear tomorrow from Backroads, so we will see what happens. If it seems like a good plan....why not jump? I will keep you all posted as you wait with baited breath on my decision.

I love Salt Lake City, I LOVE the mountains, I love trail running, I love this little coffee shop, the rawbean that has taken me in for these few days and served me fantastic Guatemalan roast and allowed me to sit on the wireless. What I have to ask is...
Where is my really financially sound man to build a home in the West for us to play and then continue to live in Austin? Where oh where?

If you all have any leads....let me know.

Check the training blog, cause I did get some training in these couple of days.

Salt Lake City...

I am sitting in rawbean coffee house, using the free wireless, catching up on some e-mails in Salt Lake City. Good Lord it is beautiful here. Why am I here? Backroads. These are the 2 days that I will take to figure it all out....I will write more later, but it is nice to get away.

I found an Aquatic Center about 3 miles from here....it's the 2002 Olympic training center. See Maggie...I told you I was going to the Olympics!! I am going to get a good swim in and go trail running...I found some trails to hit as well.

I will post many a picture later.
